On Wednesday, the Fresno County Democratic Party and Central Labor Council held a press conference to “discuss the political weaponization” of Lisa Smittcamp’s District Attorney’s office. According to the press advisory sent out, “In recent years, Smittcamp’s Public Integrity Unit has been weaponized for partisan smear campaigns. While DA Smittcamp has charged Democrats of all stripes with unsubstantiated charges, Republicans have continuously been held to different standards.” The advisory uses Terry Slatic as an example, stating that Slatic was not charged despite video evidence of him assaulting a minor. The FCDP said it would send a formal complaint to the Federal Authorities and California Attorney General Rob Bonta to investigate.
