Recall Mania – Just Can’t Get Enough

Are you one of those who just can’t get enough of recall-mania?  Fortunately for recall junkies, there may be another one headed to ballot near you.

The recall proponents, focused on removing L.A. County District Attorney George Gascon from office, filed petitions with the L.A. County Registrar’s office on Wednesday.  The proponents say they submitted 717,000 signatures.  Now the Registrar has 30 days to verify the signatures and see if the proponents have the necessary 566,857 to trigger a recall election.

If the signatures are found to be sufficient, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors will place it on the ballot.  The next question is: will they place it on the November General Election ballot or call for a special election as late as January 2023?

The rumor mill has started: who will run to replace Gascon, if he is actually recalled?  There is a long list of rumored candidates and even a couple that have said they will run, once an election is called.  If you know of potential candidates, Calpeek would love to share the information, so please ContactUs@Calpeek.com.
