This week’s Garcetti Watch 2022 brought with it the whole family as it was revealed that Mayor Garcetti’s parents, former L.A. County District Attorney Gil Garcetti and his wife Sukey, retained lobbying firm McGuireWoods Consulting in April to help move their son’s stalled ambassador appointment along. According to the Garcettis they hired the firm “to help tell the truth.”
Meanwhile back in the beltway, Senator Christopher Murphy (D-Conn.) has been trying to schedule meetings for the Mayor with Democratic senators who have concerns about the pending appointment. According to Murphy, the reason for his efforts is due to the important role India plays with China and Russia and the need to keep the country connected to the West.
