The “Defenders of Justice” for LA Superior Court

It may sound like the latest Marvel comic movie, but rather than coming to a theater near you, the Defenders of Justice are appearing on L.A. County ballots.  For the first time, four female candidates are joining forces to run for L.A. County Superior Court judicial seats.  Unlike their opponents who are prosecutors, three are public defenders, and one is a civil rights/labor attorney.  Anna Slotky Reitano (Office #60), Holly Hancock (Office #70), Elizabeth Lashley-Haynes (Office #67), and Carolyn “Jiyoung” Park (Office #118), have been nicknamed the Defenders of Justice by the Transforming the Judiciary Coalition, which has endorsed them and works to raise awareness around the importance of electing progressive judges to the bench.

  1. Unfortunately, none of them have been rated “Well Qualified” by the LA County Bar and one (Park) has been rated “Not Qualified”. There are MUCH better choices in every instance.
