Another Oscar Night Slap – To Union Workers

Following the Academy Award ceremony, Jay-Z’s Gold Party started to rock at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood.  The only challenge for the celebrity attendees was needing to cross a picket line set up by UNITE HERE Local 11.  The union is highlighting alleged worker rights violations and discrimination by the hotel, which fired almost all of its workers without severance pay or extended health insurance when the pandemic hit.  The Water Cooler assumes the celebrities who crossed the line had already cashed their union negotiated residual checks.  Celebrity attendees included Zoe Kravitz, Mindy Kaling, Tiffany Haddish, Tyler Perry, Emily Ratajkowski, Kim Kardashian, and Rosario Dawson who (ironically) portrayed Dolores Huerta in the 2014 movie Cesar Chavez.
