There could be an extra 50,000 reasons to remain a juvenile prison employee in California. According to CalMatters, workers for the Division of Juvenile Justice could receive up to a $50,000 bonus to stay on the job while the state prepares to close the prisons. Governor Newsom’s administration and the unions representing the workers negotiated the bonuses, which would be the largest such incentive ever offered, if approved. Interestingly, some of the unions involved in the deal also gave big – to the tune of $4.5 million – to defeat the recent Gubernatorial recall.
